DAVID R USHER. David was born in Preston in 1965 and graduated with distinction from The Birmingham Conservatoire in 1993. Whilst at Birmingham he won a number of prizes including the Canoldir Recital Prize; the John Ireland Trust Prize, second Prize in the Mario Lanza competition, the B.M.I. Singers Prize and the Barfield Rosebowl for operatic distinction.
David completed his studies at The Royal Northern College of Music, where he gained their Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Performance. He took part in a concert tour of the Channel Islands with other members of the R.N.C.M. Vocal Department, before he left the College in 1995.
David’s operatic roles include “Lescaut” in “Manon by Massenet, “Papageno” in “The Magic Flute” by Mozart, “The Bonze” in “Madam Butterfly” by Puccini, “Don Carlo” in“Emani“,“Nabucco“, and “The King of Egypt” in “Aida” by Verdi.
Since leaving the R.N.C.M. David is in demand as a soloist for various societies. His varied repertoire includes,“The Messiah“, “The Creation“, “The Choral Symphony” by Beethoven, “The Requiem” by Mozart “Elijah“, “St Paul“, “Carmina Burana“,“Child of our Time” and various Masses.
David has sung for various Societies including The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society and The Royal Armouries Museum. Recent concert work has included “The Apostles” by Elgar and “The Requiem” by Verdi for Leominster Festival.
As well as having a busy Performing Career, David also runs a thriving Voice Teaching Practice.
